CLUB RULES

 

1

Correct Standard of Riding Hat and Riding boots must be won at all times whilst mounted.

No riding in wellies or trainers and all hats to comply with BRC standard PAS 015 1998 or 2011 OR VG1 01.040: 2014-12 with BSI Kite mark to be used whilst riding at Torfaen Riding Club

Body Protectors and Skull Hat must be worn when jumping Cross Country Fences. NO FIXED PEAKS are to be worn on the X-Country field. Torfaen recommend body protectors be worn for any mounted activity. Purple label 2009 and blue label 2018 standard are required for BRC competitions and advised for use at club (BRC are expecting to change to 2018 in the future so if investing to compete this would be advisable)

All Junior members must have a responsible adult present at all times whilst riding on the club field

Horses and Ponies must be 4 years and over to be ridden on the club field. Please do not be offended if asked to show the animals passport.

Neither Committee nor any person asking on their behalf can accept responsibility for any loss, damage, accident or injury to Horse, Pony, Rider or any other person attending events that are held by Torfaen Riding Club. The organisers have taken reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring. You must obey instructions off the organisers

No galloping in the first field, be safe and responsible while riding in the Cross Country Field. Please think of others Riding around you and be aware and respect the ribbon coding.

No horse or pony is to be left unattended while tethered to Lorry or Trailer.

Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. Please pick up any mess.

No lunging is permitted anywhere on the club fields

No abusive language or threatening behaviour towards any persons on the club field will be tolerated. Please inform a committee member immediately if this happens.

No one is allowed onto the club field without a member of the committee in attendance

Torfaen Riding club have trained first aiders at all club nights, Rallies and Events

No smoking whilst on horseback. Those caught smoking whilst riding will be asked to leave the club field with immediate effect.

Misuse of Spurs or whips will not be tolerated. This may include leaving whip marks or spur marks this could be where hair is removed and/or blood is brought to the surface be in accidental or intentional. This also applies to any visible blood in the mouth caused from the bit. The member will be asked to leave the field with immediate effect.

ALL Junior members MUST have an assessment before being allowed to wear spurs.. This is free and can be from one of our qualified instructors during a lesson or by Mari Sian on a club night.

Horse and ponies attending club should be in a fit state to do so.  Any horse welfare issues such as continuing to ride a horse that is lame, sick or exhausted will be taken seriously.

If a member is seen to be in breach of the rules a record will be made of the conversation between committee and member and resolution agreed. A second offence on the same day will result in the member being asked to leave the field but will be welcome to return on another day. In the event of continued breach of the rules by any individual an invitation will be issued for a formal meeting with the committee off the club field. (Discussions with juniors will be with their responsible adult on the day or parent/guardian will be invited to attend)

It is compulsory to wear TRC clothing or Show attire on a Wednesday evening and Rallies. TRC clothing can be the T-Shirts, Polo Shirts or Round Neck Jumper. Items are available for purchase

ALL members are required to volunteer to help at one event or rally held at by club as we are unable to run without volunteers.  For those that do not comply any points will NOT count toward the club championships.

Use of social media that involves defamatory or inappropriate comments about or directed at the organisation, other members, or sponsors will not be tolerated.

Any issues relating to the riding club, other members or club rules should be submitted in writing to any member of the committee to be discussed either at the next meeting or sooner if severity warrants.

All Horses and Ponies attending the club field will need to have up to date Flu vaccination in line with the BRC recommendations. Both initial vaccinations must be completed at least 7 days prior to attending with the follow up boosters.

Passports and vaccinations will be checked before members are allowed to enter the club field (on foot) and before unloading (if travelling) those unable to present will be turned away.
